god(little g)-damn IT Mike. What kind of mumbo-jumbo are you vomiting through the internet now?
"Prayer is a way to amplify ACTION."
-Are you kidding me? Are you playing devils-advocate on this
one? Tell me you don't actually think that saying some words, to
a mystical (wo)man in the sky is some sort of amplification of
ACTING? So, by your "logic" collecting a healing herb, processing
this herb, and feeding it to the ill is only part of the equation; in
that we must become idolaters (See www.dictionary.com, definition #2)
and worship some arbitrary deity (little d).
By that logic, in order to make my Tums (brand), or Tylenol (brand)
medicine work, I need to follow the directions on the bottle, then
"pray" to something, then, and only then, by amplifiying the drug I'm
using, by speaking to something that does not exist, can I expect
headache and indigestion relief?
"There lies upon this earth herbs and minerals that may be used to heal."
-Yeah, no shit. Praying sure as crap isn't going to pull them out
of the ground and make a healing tea out of them, is it? I'm all
for remaining positive in the face of adversity, the mind can do some
of the most amazing things, (I've even been fortunate enough to have
been able to observe a few) but this crap you're slinging defies even
the most basic of logic.
"Well you know how God helps those who help themselves..?"
-No, I don't. Why? I'll tell you. Because I (me) act
as an extension of my will, based upon reason and objectivity.
(Not objectivism, so don't start on that foolish bent.)
"Without taking action, you have shown how lazy and hopeless you are."
-By taking action (typing, typing is an action Mike) you've shown how shallow, ignorant, and hopeless you can be.
You see, your phrasing makes a blanket statement as to my being.
Blanket statements in any other vein than the humorous are foolish.
"The divine is not a crutch."
-Nope. But believing in it is.
ps. When your cell phone craps out, call back... It's only polite.
