Just like ANY statement, the "Ten Commandments" should be protected under Federal law.

I don't see the problem here. Some people might be offended by the display of these few chosen words, but then some others might be offended by gay men kissing in public.

I say to both groups, "Don't look... go back in your home... and kill yourself if you're so worried about seeing something in life you dislike."

"Life IS pain. Anyone who says differently is selling something."

i say we need to be more offensive to these Politicaly Correct Fuckers take this country back to a simpler time. a time when you complained about stupid things. you were simply laughed at or hung because the town folk didnt want you around anymore (they would make up some excuse like you were a horse thief or something and get away with it)

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

NO fucking shit...all these asstasters coming out of the woodwork, to get rid of offensive material.  These people OFFEND ME!!!  What is my recourse?  How can I make them go away?  Short of waving a pistol, cops tend to frown on that sort of thing...

But as far as the 10 commandments thing goes, there is that pesky separation of chruch and state...If they want to leave that shit up at the state capitol or the courthouse or what ever, let the churches start paying taxes...you know for advertising space.

Letting the Ten Commandments be displayed in the courthouse IS a separation of Church and state.

I also beleive the rules of other faiths should be displayed as well.

"Do as thou wilt, harm none."

One simple rule right there.

No need for nine more.

I like your thinking Mike.  I try to live by that same principle.

I forgot though.  Clue me in on something, anyone.  Where in our constitution does it say we have to have a separation of church and state?  Just curious.

Secondly, if the community with which this courthouse resides wished the commandments to be there, who is anyone to ask for their removal?

Good point about the community.

I've always beleived in that aspect:

A community's right to decide it's own identity and morality.

There will always be the few who come up there and do not feel happy with the way it is. They will be free to move somewhere else when the time comes.

The separation thing...

I'm sure these guys know.

But here is a comprehensive essay.

Written into the intent of the First Amendment or not, it is a quality principal that needs cultivating. Each should be protected from the other.

The church this author means is obviously Christian.

The separation exists to protest the pagans from a Christian State, The Buddhists from a Jewish state, and the Christians from an Atheist state... And every combination therof.

As such... EVERY church should respect that principal.

The largest reason for churches to get involved is money.

Capitalism is a church value as well. It's all about the numbers.

No members... No tithings.

No people chosing those principals... No members.

Take away the choice of principals on the state level and people begin to flock toward the control point.

It's either much more complicated or simple than that but that's the Bleeder's Digest Convulsed Version.
