Sure, why not...  I did it with the burger, I figure a flash bang like this one should stir up some nonsensical sentiment.

Oh crap.. I thought we were talking French quisine!

In your professional opinion, when does a fetus become a person?

In my esoteric opinion... most people walking on two legs don't qualify. They have done nothing to build any kind of a "soul". Doesn't mean they shouldn't be given a chance.

I'm pretty divided. I beleive in choice but you can see which choice I'd rather make.

-Yep.  Unfortunately people have some misconception as to the begining of life.  The fact is, that once the embryo begins to multiply, there's a human life there.

"

-Here is where we differ in opinion.  You see, like it or not, I can't legislate the reproductive behavior of anyone but myself.  To be fair, neither can you.  Although you wish death on all the people the have abortions, it's really not any of your business, or mine.  Personally, I don't like abortion, it's an act that causes irreversable harm to the would-have-been mother psychologically, and creates a flashpoint for dullerards to yell, scream and beat their chests about.  I don't emotionalize the situation though, as it seems Smokin does ("MURDER").  A sixteen cell blastocyst (from which stem-cells are usually taken), is no different to me than a first trimester fetus; it's all life incapable of supporting itself without the mother, and therefore does not inherit any rights.

-Unless you've been raped, or someone you are intimately related with has been, you have no frame of reference and should refrain from silly blanket statements that would make one appear foolish.

its not a silly blanket statement   2 wrongs dont make it right

whats worse killing the unborn and the psychological torture she will feel for the rest of her life

or having to deal with the pregnancy and seeing a new life be born, psychologically probably the best thing for a woman is to give birth.  whether she wants the kids is another story give it up for adoption

every woman ive met who had a abortion wishs she would of never did it.  even the one that was raped

i dont come up with these opinions lightly ive made them over a life time of serious thought

-The unborn isn't conscious so I don't think it minds.  I agree with the psychological consequences though.

"

-That's the same experience I've had.

"

-I never belittled your opinions.  I just don't think anyone has the right to legislate anyone elses body but themselves.  I mean, from observing the comments you make on this forum, it might be safe to say you've indulged in some "illegal" substances in your life?  Well, there is a huge, I mean HUGE,  number of assholes that want to make sure you, and anyone else like you go to prison for doing things to their own bodies, of their own free will.

What would you say to them?

Abortion is a terrible thing, for so many reasons,  but I can't tell anyone what to do with their bodies.  The only thing we can do is humans is to educate.   Educate, educate, educate...

That's why I think the first step in any and all of this is to return State Sovereignty and allow each community to decide it's own morality... Or lack thereof.

Education huh?

K... I have a few instances to bring up.

I was rolling down the freeway with Etanna and the kids when we begin to catch up to this truck (same make and size as your standard U-Haul) adorned with graphics of aborted, third-trimester fetuses.  Now... I of all people shouldn't have too much to say regarding expression; But if my children weren't tired and distracted and happened to notice the giant pictures of mutilated babies... I would have killed him. Don't ask me to moralize that one because I can't and I don't care. He would be dead.

There are some things you shouldn't have to explain to a two and a three year old... And if you do without being asked, you're a sick fuck.

Now on the other hand there is a girl who has a sticker on her car that says "Abortion is mean."
Simple and to the point.

I don't think she'd mind too much considering the point of the discussion, but my Mother had an abortion. I know... Plenty of people out there wishing she'd have let that one go and terminated the next. I told you; I'm just lucky.

It did pave the way for a rather rocky pregnancy when she was ready, and I nearly didn't make it. Like I said... Lucky. The peace she has had to make with that is her own business and when I found out, I had no reaction at all. Mind you that she has only within the last five years been making progress with being Manic-Depressive Bipolar. I have no idea whether that had a part in it, but I've forgiven her for a lot of things from my childhood for that and the reason that she is not responsible for my happiness anymore.
Politely overlooking the fact that SMOKIN wished death upon my Mother, each situation is unique and not entirely disastrous.

I do agree in part... Education is one half of the solution.
The other is compassion.

-That's not education, that's nonsense.  I've seen the same truck, or ones like it outside of Schools when I was back in Elsinore.

-Well said.  Education, compassion and common sense.  Although I'm amazed at what some people believe to be common sense.  (See Darwin Awards, et al.)

hey smokin' how old are you?  Not trying to stir up anymore shit, but, how long is a "life time" of thought?

Abortion, right or wrong, it's up to the individual to decide.

Also, I live with a bitch who thinks that having an abortion would have weighed heavier on her conscience than dropping her toddler on the ground from 3 feet and spanking her ( that's just one incident), because she won't go to sleep, or just yelling and spanking for the same reason...

how old are you guys

Sam  a life time of thought IMO is long enough to raise a child in to adulthood   im 41

my Son (who my mother wanted my X to abort because we werent married ) turned 19 today

and the arguement about what people do with their bodies is BS in the case of Abortion  its not their body thats being killed now is it?

the Unborn at some point becomes conscience at what point is debateable .   if you put Headphones on a Pregnant womans belly and play soothing music later after the kid is born the best way to get that kid asleep is to play that same music calms them right down. it triggers a conscience memory of being in the Womb.   we did that with my Son and the Moody Blues

Here's one that should stoke some angry rhetoric...  I don't remember anything from before the age of around five.  So let's say my mother had aborted me, at, say 3 and half, I wouldn't have held it against her.  Eh?  Anything?

One other pondering...  I think Alzheimers would be just about the most terrible disease imaginable, because it's like a super-late-term abortion.  Any thoughts kids?
