Do I believe in spirits? Tree spirits, mountain
spirits? No, not really, but it doesn't mean I'm not spiritual. It
doesn't mean I can't find spirituality in trees or mountains, or people.
As far as other forms of life beyond the constraints of the physical, the
jury's still out. I mean, fire could be called a living being. It breathes,
it consumes, and it reproduces. Fire
has all of the basic components of a living thing without any of the spirit.
When our bodies finally fail us, and our earthly locomotion is gone, who knows
what plane of existence our essence finds inviting. It could be among the
living, but I have a feeling, that without the pressures of gravity, our energy
has quite a bit of exploring to do out and about, already having dealt with bipedal
As far as ghosts are concerned, I've never met any, as far as I know, but only
a narrow-minded fool would denounce to one degree or another their existence.
This is a quality of the human spirit that I find most frustrating. That
is, the propensity of the human mind to make a decision, where none is
required, or necessary. It has more to
do with acceptable social behavior I suppose, than what the mind is naturally
accustomed to. If someone sincere were
to tell me they’ve had a supernatural experience, who the hell am I to tell
them any different?
Oh well, sorry for getting sidetracked on you there Smolkin’.
