The visit ran into further trouble after Iran's parliament speaker Gholamali Haddadadel insisted he would not shake hands with the female president of Belgium's Senate.

Anne-Marie Lizin, a Socialist, then canceled their meeting. She said in a statement that Iranians should respect local customs in Belgium, just as Belgians should in Iran.

Christians.

I was once asked what church I take my kids to.

I replied, "We're always in church when we're together; The three of us gathered in the name and pursuit of Godliness.

But if you're talking about an ugly, little building where W.A.S.P.y elitists sing depressing hyms out of tune and bigoted old man try to convince the next generation of women that their only role is to be subservient to the talentless, dullard males of the congregation then... No... I won't subject my daughters to that, thank you."

Religion is about control.

Spirituality is about freedom.

No one thinks of Buddhists in a bad light, but when Buddhism became the official religion of China... The officials started burning the tree-shrines of Mongolian Shamans.

That's what happens when you mix church and state ANYWHERE.

You would think that Jews would know better than to oppress others, but the Israeli Zionist policy of occupying buffer zones to force conflict with neighboring nations has only had one historical equal:

Nazi Germany.

Welcome, alright... to the old game of control.

Very well put.  You know however from many a rant, that I not only oppose religion and govenment mixing, but religion in general.  I wonder how many years it'll take to dig ourselves out of this mire of skyte brought down upon us by bewildered cave dwellers trying to explain the unexplainable?  My bet's on roughly two more centuries.  Two hundred more years to erase the Jesus from our simple minded friends...  Any takers?

I think you need to check out The Quaballah.

It's amazingly technical.

You see... There is NOTHING that cannot be explained.

Nothing.

For instance... The Xicoco Shamanic Arts Center not only employs the esoteric arts of card reading, energy work and the occasional channeling....
A few of the workers there have a major study in phychology and cultural history.

Of course there is nothing that can't be explained.  That's why I'm a scientist.  I'll let you in on a secret though...

Card reading...  Crap.  Complete worthless bunk.

Energy work, channeling...  People have been practicing this for years with some great results.  The mind is an amazing thing, and if it works for some, I'm not going to knock it.

But Mike, seriously.  Card reading = crutch.  Just like any religion, its a crutch.  I don't knock that either, for the most part.  Some people are broken, and need a good crutch.  But it's just that and nothing more.

Oh, thanks for the recomendation, "The Quaballah."  I would like to get aquainted with a great many religious texts for their perspective.  They would however hold very little value to me I think.

Chris.

I have a light-hearted, esoteric view of things.

Hey, Reefer...
Here's a clue:
The cards are just tools for a person with those abilities.
More like training wheels than a crutch... If the person is doing it right.

One of the psychic ladies I know told me a little tale:

"So I'm sitting there with a line of people to the door and most of them are middle-aged women all dressed about the same with the same kind of ugly jewelry and desperate looks on their faces. So I can see this while I'm shuffling the cards and I say 'You're looking for love.'

'How did you know?' Shit... You don't have to be psychic to tell that; They just LOOK desperate."

She's also got a study in psychology as well as a natural psychic ability.

Here's another bit of info... Most people WANT to see the cards. For some reason it seems less eerie and judgemenal than having a person look at you and tell you what your fucking problem is.

Do I believe in spirits?  Tree spirits, mountain spirits?  No, not really, but it doesn't mean I'm not spiritual.  It doesn't mean I can't find spirituality in trees or mountains, or people.

As far as other forms of life beyond the constraints of the physical, the jury's still out.  I mean, fire could be called a living being.  It breathes, it consumes, and it reproduces.  Fire has all of the basic components of a living thing without any of the spirit.  When our bodies finally fail us, and our earthly locomotion is gone, who knows what plane of existence our essence finds inviting.  It could be among the living, but I have a feeling, that without the pressures of gravity, our energy has quite a bit of exploring to do out and about, already having dealt with bipedal

As far as ghosts are concerned, I've never met any, as far as I know, but only a narrow-minded fool would denounce to one degree or another their existence.  This is a quality of the human spirit that I find most frustrating.  That is, the propensity of the human mind to make a decision, where none is required, or necessary.  It has more to do with acceptable social behavior I suppose, than what the mind is naturally accustomed to.  If someone sincere were to tell me they’ve had a supernatural experience, who the hell am I to tell them any different?

Oh well, sorry for getting sidetracked on you there Smolkin’.

Chris.

Well, Reefer...

You would also have to take for granted the rules human scientists (Who still have a LOT to learn) have put on what a "living being" is.

Some things are elemental and have a collective consciousness which is simply realised in their purpose.

Like gemstones.

Take quartz crystal: It is an energy amplifier and is used to transmit in rituals and the like.

Now that may be an esoteric purpose, but gunsmiths use those crystals to test bore pressures in firearms because they transfer the physical shock-waves into electrical output.

This is a thing that consumes physical output and expels electricity.

That purpose is it's consciousness.

Humanity is the only thing so busy trying to figure out it's purpose that it seems to act without a consciousness at times.

As a scientist, you must know that nothing is ever completely removed through destruction. The energy may be transformed in massive ways but it is not removed from being. The same is with the energy that is your consciousness.

Through death it can either be completely recycled into another person who is born without memory or known purpose... or... If you can train yourself and harness your will...

You can keep from descending back into a lower dimension and from the point you enter the void, you may be awake and aware enough to chose your fate.

It all depends on what you feel attached to. If you can't accept death and parts of you become separated at the point of terminus, you won't get very far.

Most hauntings you see are "residual". It's left ever emotional and spiritual energy that is just kind of sitting like humidity trapped in an enclosed space. When conditions are right, it seems to rain indoors. Hauntings are like that. A bit of energy that is enough to imitate life as we see it.

The main portion is busy hiding from the clear light for some reason and could wind up anywhere at any time but without choosing it's location.

Which was the one aspect you say fire lacks to be considered "alive"?

Consider what I've put down so far and you might come to understand that fire IS alive.

You ever wonder why "insane" people see religious figures and angels?

Obviously, their brains are wired differently...

But maybe they are wired to get signals that we normally don't receive.

Imagine how crazy you would seem if you were back in olden days and got radio transmissions through your fillings from an alien satellite.

You would be burned at the stake before you could say "Amen."

Or am I just talking out my ass here?

Seems to me like everytime Mike responds to one of my posts, he never actually takes the time to read and respond to the post iteself.  Instead it's used a jumping board for a long rant running crosswise and sideways and every which-a-way.  It's a little disheartening when someone runs roughshod over someone elses words for the sake of essentiall the same viewpoint, put differently.

I don't know, am I coming down with a case of ass-speak-osis?

Maybe I'm taking for granted that you haven't done the studying that I have on certain subjects.

I seem to be going on a rant because I'm trying to bring you several schools of thought that correspond all at once.

So let me know where I'm fucking up and I'll get on it.
